Welcome to Kirkbymoorside Community Primary School. We believe we have a very good school set in the heart of a thriving market town. We welcome your interest in joining us. Our aim is to maximise children’s potential in academic and social achievement by providing a high quality learning environment where everyone feels happy, safe and secure.
The school has been on its present site since 1980. We are very lucky to have such a lovely school surrounded by beautiful countryside. We are fortunate to have such a well designed building, and resources to help deliver our broad, balanced and exciting curriculum.
Our school has a warm and friendly family atmosphere. We have an open door policy and strongly believe in the partnership with parents. It is only when we work together, school and home, that we can achieve the very best for our children. In November 2014 Ofsted judged school to be GOOD in all categories, a child described the school as ‘awesome’. As a school we hold many awards including Arts Mark Gold,Investors in People, 'I Can' accreditation, The International School Award, Basic Skills Award, Sainsbury’s Active Mark- Silver and Eco Schools Silver Awards.
Kirkbymoorside Primary School is an Enhanced Mainstream School for Communication and Interaction. The whole school have received additional training in this area and are committed to creating a communication friendly environment which will support children with speech and language needs to flourish. There is a team of two specialist teachers and two learning support assistants based within the school who work with children that have speech, language and communication needs in the surrounding area, usually within their own local primary school, however some children who need more intensive support travel to Kirkbymoorside so that they may benefit from the excellent teaching and learning that takes place here.
My vision for our school centres on the belief that every child has the entitlement to the very best education that we can offer in a happy, caring environment. To support this ethos, I have a very hard working and committed team of people, who always put the care of the individual child to the forefront. In 2015 we joined the North Star Teaching Alliance, we are very active members of this alliance and look to them for training and development of our staff at all levels.
In July 2016 we joined the Ryedale Federation, this is a group of three local primary schools and the local secondary school who have all agreed that we are 'Stronger Together'. We have agreed to work even more closely together to ensure that all of our pupils receive the best possible education. We are very excited about this initiative, our parents and governors have worked hard together to ensure this decision is the right one for all of our schools.
We warmly welcome your visit where you can meet the pupils and staff of our school and discover for yourself how we aim to achieve the highest possible standards. Please telephone or email the school to make an appointment to visit.
